Every year thousands of people decide to do a detox. Often this is after some seasonal over indulgence so it forms part of a New Year Resolution. Sometimes the detox is more to do with the damaging effects of industrial toxicity and sometimes it is part of an addiction programme.
In each case detox means removing toxins from the body but the methods used vary a lot.
You may receive risky treatment by intravenous chelation only (an injection) or take part in a complex but safe nutritional program over several months with minerals and vitamins and other nutritional cofactors.
Or you may do a thorough detoxification with diet, saunas, supplements and herbs combined with relaxation and similar de-stressing techniques and perhaps even advice for detoxing your home and pets as well.
This latter alternative would be a Holistic Detox. It is thorough and deals with the whole person and sometimes is written as “Wholistic detox”.
It is not just the whole person that is treated but their environment too. The air we breathe and the water we drink and food we eat are intimate parts of the environment that become part of us and if they are contaminated then we are too.
As a response to contamination or toxicity we may do a Liver Detox or Colon Cleanse. These detoxes are good as far as they go but are at best partial solutions. In fact doing a Liver Detox without proper preparation may do a lot of damage to the intestinal lining as the liver mobilizes its toxins.
In a holistic or thorough detox this possibility is anticipated and the damage minimized by strengthening the gut lining. To learn more read my kindle book, Detox Your Body in 3 Steps and do feel free to ask questions.
